Elke ochtend reist de 26-jarige Awesta Shegewall met het openbaar vervoer van haar woonplaats Gytsjerk naar Firda in Heerenveen. „Leven en studeren in een nieuw land is soms best moeilijk. Maar als ik denk aan wat ik heb, voel ik me blij en trots. Want voor vrouwen in Afghanistan is studeren en werken een droom.’’
