Omdat Syrië te gevaarlijk was, vluchtte Aland (21) op zijn 16de naar Nederland. Maar de reis was te zwaar: „Ik werd ontvoerd door struikrovers.” Voor hem betekent Nederland hoop op een nieuw begin en gezinshereniging. Het leven in het azc kende echter ook zijn uitdagingen. „We woonden met zijn achten in één unit.”
