Excelsior heeft zich vrijdagavond goed hersteld van de nederlaag die het eerder deze week leed tegen Go Ahead Eagles. De Kralingers ontvingen vrijdagavond Haarlem, dat met duidelijke cijfers werd verslagen: 3-0. Ryan Koolwijk opende al snel de score, waarna Kermit Erasmus en invaller Michal Janota de twee andere treffers verzorgden. Erasmus verscheen aan de aftrap, net als Kamohelo Mokotjo, Norichio Nieveld, Kevin Wattamaleo, Mitchell Schet en Luis Pedro.
