Excelsior is vrijdagavond met 1-0 onderuit gegaan tegen FC Zwolle. Het enige doelpunt van de wedstrijd viel twintig minuten voor tijd en kwam op naam van Erik Bakker. Trainer Alex Pastoor begon met zes Feyenoorders in de basis, te weten Vojtek Machek, Norichio Nieveld, Kevin Wattamaleo, Michal Janota, Kermit Erasmus en Mitchell Schet. Machek, Janota en Schet werden voortijdig naa de kant gehaald, terwijl Kamohelo Mokotjo het laatste halfuur van de wedstrijd meespeelde.
