Excelsior heeft vrijdagavond door een benutte strafschop van Adnan Alisic in de slotfase de zege veiliggesteld tegen RBC Roosendaal. Op Woudestein wonnen de Kralingers met 2-1 van de Roosendalers. Oefenmeester Alex Pastoor startte met de Feyenoorders Norichio Nieveld en Kevin Wattamaleo in de basis. Laatstgenoemde werd in de rust vervangen door Michal Janota.
