Giovanni van Bronckhorst zal dit seizoen waarschijnlijk als linksback spelen. Dit gaf trainer Mario Been aan tegenover RTV Rijnmond. De aanvoerder van Feyenoord zal starten op deze positie in de wedstrijd tegen Sporting Lissabon omdat Tim de Cler kampt met hamstringklachten. 'Het zou zomaar kunnen dat Gio dit seizoen linksback wordt,' aldus Been.Overigens liet Been ook weten dat Ron Vlaar een helft zal spelen en ook Jonathan de Guzman speelminuten zal maken.
