De kans is groot dat Robin van Persie niet meer voor het Nederlands Elftal gaat uitkomen. De 35-jarige aanvaller heeft zelf aangegeven altijd beschikbaar te blijven, maar bondscoach Ronald Koeman verwacht niet dat hij hem nog gaat oproepen. ''Ik sluit niets uit, maar nee, in principe niet.''
"Met zijn fysieke gesteldheid zal Feyenoord niet blij zijn als ik hem oproep voor het Nederlands elftal. Hij is niet mijn eerste optie," vertelt Ronald Koeman in gesprek met Studio Voetbal. Een afscheidswedstrijd staat ook niet op de planning voor Van Persie. ''De stelling is dat je een recordinternational moet zijn. Dat is Robin helaas niet."
