Karim El Ahmadi wilde dolgraag zijn carrière afsluiten bij Feyenoord. De 33-jarige middenvelder had het naar zijn zin in Rotterdam, maar kreeg van technisch directeur Martin van Geel nooit een aanbieding om zijn contract te verlengen.
Dit weet Voetbal International woensdagochtend te melden. Uiteindelijk liet Feyenoord El Ahmadi transfervrij vertrekken naar Al Ittihad uit Saoedi-Arabië om ruimte te creëren in het salarisbudget. Hierdoor was het mogelijk om Jordy Clasie te huren van Southampton.
