Voor Brad Jones krijgt het seizoen mogelijk een mooi vervolg. De Feyenoorder is opgenomen in de voorlopige selectie van Australië voor het WK 2018. Bondscoach Bert van Marwijk heeft in totaal 32 spelers opgenomen in zijn voorlopige lijst.
Australië speelt begin juni oefenduels met Tsjechië (1 juni) en Hongarije (9 juni). Op 16 juni beginnen The Socceroos het WK met een wedstrijd tegen Frankrijk. Denemarken en Peru zijn de andere landen in Groep C van het toernooi in Rusland.
