Eric Botteghin heeft de kans om zijn carrière te vervolgen in zijn vaderland Brazilië afgewezen. Dit schrijft De Volkskrant zondag. De 29-jarige centrale verdediger van Feyenoord stond deze zomer in de belangstelling van grootmachten Corinthians en São Paolo. Een terugkeer naar Brazilië zag hij echter niet zitten.
"De Botteghins blijven liever in Nederland. Vooral vanwege de infrastructuur. São Paolo per auto doorkruisen, dat red je niet in 24 uur. Nederland is fijner", schrijft het dagblad. De verdediger speelde in Brazilië voor Sport Club Internacional B en Barueri, waarna hij in 2007 naar PEC Zwolle vertrok.
