Onder leiding van coach Ronald Koeman kwam de ploeg destijds gretig voor de dag, wat resulteerde in een 0-3 overwinning. Jean-Paul Boëtius zette Feyenoord snel op voorsprong, waarna Graziano Pellè voor rust de score verdubbelde. In de slotfase gooide Boëtius met zijn tweede treffer de wedstrijd definitief op slot.
