Bondscoach Guus Hiddink kiest maandagavond tegen IJsland voor dezelfde opstelling van het Nederlands elftal als vrijdag tegen Kazachstan. Dat betekent dat Ibrahim Afellay gewoon in de basis staat ondanks de enkelklachten die hij overhield aan de 3-1 zege op Kazachstan. Oranje heeft na twee wedstrijden drie punten. Het eerste duel ging verloren tegen Tsjechië.
