Mitchell Te Vrede blijft ondanks alle kritiek elke wedstrijd scoren. De spits maakte al vijf treffers in de laatste zes officiële wedstrijden voor Feyenoord. De Rotterdammers blijven echter hopen op Bas Dost, terwijl ook Duvan Zapata nog benaderd zou zijn.
In De Telegraaf geeft Rutten echter aan dat Te Vrede zich geen zorgen hoeft te maken als hij blijft scoren. "En Mitchell ontwikkelt zich absoluut, dat zie ik duidelijk. Als hij gewoon blijft scoren, dan kunnen we wel een of andere topspits halen, maar dan blijft hij gewoon staan”, aldus Rutten.
