Volgens Edward van Cuilenborg, presentator van Megastad FM, wil Feyenoord naast Kriztián Simon ook de Kazachstaan Sergei Khiznichenko aantrekken. De 19-jarige spits zou een meerjarig contract krijgen, waarna hij eerst aan Excelsior wordt verhuurd. De 1 meter en 86 centimeter lange spits is nog geen directe versterking voor Feyenoord, maar dit kan hij wel worden, zo oordeelt de technische staf.
Khiznichenko staat momenteel onder contract bij de Kazahcstaanse club FC Atyrau.
