Op 6 juni 1985, precies 40 jaar geleden, speelde Helmond Sport haar eerste en tot dusver laatste bekerfinale in het betaald voetbal, uit tegen subtopper FC Utrecht. Helmond Sport, een laagvlieger in de eerste divisie, was heel dichtbij een stunt, maar verloor de finale diep in blessuretijd. Terug naar toen met twee fans én twee spelers. „Die laatste minuten leken wel uren te duren.”
