HELMOND - Alle tegenstand ten spijt werd op zaterdagmiddag 2 september 1966 ‘de luchtbrug over de Zuid-Willemsvaart’ officieel geopend. De toenmalige minister van Verkeer en Waterstaat Ko Suurhoff kwam ervoor naar Helmond. „Naar mijn mening was het een wijs besluit de brug toch te bouwen”, zei hij.
