In Nederland heeft nagenoeg niemand ooit van hem gehoord, in zijn geboorteland Brazilië is hij een grootheid. Als het aan het Apollo Ensemble ligt gaat daar verandering in komen en sluit de Nederlandse muziekliefhebber volksdichter en componist Elomar Figueira Mello (1937) vanaf nu in het hart.
