SYDNEY (ANP) - De tennissers van de Verenigde Staten hebben in het Australische Sydney de United Cup gewonnen. Taylor Fritz haalde met een zege in drie sets tegen de Pool Hubert Hurkacz in de finale het beslissende punt binnen: 6-4 5-7 7-6 (4). Eerder op de dag had de Amerikaanse Coco Gauff het enkelspel bij de vrouwen gewonnen van Iga Swiatek in twee sets: 6-4 6-4. Gauff kwam terug van een 4-2 achterstand in de tweede set.
